A letter: To - Tennis fans From - A Roger Federer fan

Rewind to 2001, if your brains have a non volatile memory, you remember

  1. India’s Natwest Series win
  2. 9/11 shock

But along with these, if you are a tennis fan, you’ll remember a young man aged 21, from the land every bollywood fan is well aware of (for others – its SWITZERLAND), beat PETE SAMPRAS, till then the greatest player on grass, in his own turf for the last time.                                                                                                                        Last time, not because the 21 year old never came back but PETE knew his successor had arrived.

Let’s move to 2002: We didn’t see the young man and I bet no one even remembered his face. Well, as a matter of fact even I didn’t

Till 2003 we recognized Men’s tennis as a contest of muscle and power. And thanks to William sisters, even women’s tennis lost its charm to pure muscle and power and some of us still argue the William sisters can easily reach round of 16 in Men’s draw…

So to answer a tennis fan’s wishes, GOD sent ROGER to the grass

Many of us have heard / read about green revolution. In July, 2003 the world witnessed a green revolution. The flare, the smoothness, the grace of a young 23 year old took the tennis world by storm. Now we remember the name – ROGER FEDERER. A true gentleman, a great warrior and (sorry no space for adjectives).

Thus began the journey of ROGER FEDERER……
